Dear Friend,

I am so glad you have decided to participate in this time of prayer, fasting and personal devotion.  There is no better way to reset our spiritual compass and bring refreshing in every area of our lives than through prayer and fasting.

This fast is intentionally designed to be both inclusive and focused. I understand that some of you are fasting for the very first time and others of you are experienced in the spiritual discipline of fasting.  If this is your first time, don’t be tempted to do less than your best. If you are experienced, then you already know the profound benefits. These kinds of fasts are special for several reasons because:
·      It involves the entire congregation pushing in a common direction
Deut. 32:30, Eccl. 4:12
·      It involves several spiritual disciplines combined; prayer, fasting and devotion Daniel 6:10, Esther 9:31, Psalm 1:2

Why Fast?
Since almost the beginning of time, God has established several methods for His people to draw close to Him.  There are times when our walk with God becomes sluggish and our hearing becomes dull and we need to reconnect and realign ourselves to the voice and will of God.  So let us in this season draw close to God.  Let us pray, study and discipline ourselves expecting a move from God.

Why Now?
I strongly believe that this is a strategic time on God’s agenda. Satan and the forces of evil seem to be rearing their head at every turn. But God has said in His word that “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will for- give their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14. Truly, our land is in need of healing.

We believe as we consecrate ourselves, God will cause us to be well in all areas: WELL spiritually, WELL physically, WELL financially, and WELL emotionally.

As we begin 2013, now is the time for us to seek God’s face as never before and usher in a time of refreshing.  If not us, who?  If not now, when?

God bless you! Grace and Peace,
Bishop Alexis Thomas
